It is my humble opinion that no one does couture better than John Galliano for Dior. He knows how to bring drama and pageantry which is what couture is all about! As an illustration major at Central Saint Martins School in London, John was ready to accept a graphic design job in New York. Luckily for us, he turned to design. This 2011 collection was inspired by Rene Gruau, a famous illustrator for Dior during the '40's and '50's, John's favorite decades. Dior's atelier, always produces exquisite fabrics and embellishments. The construction of these garments is beyond the realm of anything I can imagine building myself!

Karl Lagerfeld delivered yet another beautiful and, might I say for a couture show, very wearable collection. The color palette was light as a cloud and gave me a bit of a sweet tooth! I loved that all of the models wore ballet flats and the makeup was fresh and dewey. My favorite model, Freja Beha, was Karl's white angel! J'ADORE PARIS!

Happy Birthday to my favorite style icon of all time. A fellow Capricorn, Kate Moss's career has not only spanned decades, but has influenced fashion trends and artists alike. Her personal life aside, she has worked hard and lived life to the fullest! KUDOS KATE!

Beck - The Golden Age

Kate Moss for Balmain

I have always been a fan of Kate Moss's work and Balmain... so luxe, sexy and classically French.

Junya Watanabe Fall Winter 2010 2011 Preview Full Edited Show High Q...

I have always been a fan of Japanese design, namely; Rei Kawakubo of Commes des Garcons, Yohji Yamamoto and Issey Miyake. As a pattern maker, I find the cuts and technical precision of their work architecturally mind blowing! I dream of being such an artist! When I visited Commes des Garcons in Paris in 2005, Junya Watanabe's work really spoke to me... I could barely pick my jaw up off the floor! I love that he is shy and completely closed off from the trappings of the fashion set. He loves "old things, broken things... things that are incomplete". He only sees the imperfections in things... "not that they're a failure but that they can be done better"... a statement with resonance for me!

I have become a huge fan of photographer Tim Walker's work. This Spring 2011 campaign, inspired by the turn-of-the-century novel The Secret Garden, is a prime example. The colors, the lighting, the styling ... models Lindsey Wixson and Nimue Smit add to the beauty.

Style Rookie No More

Tavi Gevinson, a.k.a. Style Rookie, styled her first official fashion shoot for BlackBook's September fashion spread. Titled Nobody's Daughter, Tavi proves that she is a force who's here to stay! I say, Rookie no more... the girl is growing up and I applaud her fashion choices! I was handed this magazine as I was getting my hair done in lower Manhattan! I hadn't read Black Book since working in SoHo... nice.
